One week in

One week in

It's been one week since we started framing the house and we're feeling pretty good about the progress we've made.  Today we've almost finished framing the second floor.  We have 3 small walls left to frame up top and we will be ready to move on.  Next steps after the 3 walls will be a delivery of our roofing materials Monday, building stairs, and decking for the entrance.  We had a beautiful Sunday to work with and hope that the rest of the week turns out great too.

Some great friends stopped by today to help us out.  Although we were both pretty tired from pushing it the day prior we still plugged through and finished two small walls and one large one.  Thanks Erin & Steve!

Here I am cutting out one of the windows, and Brandon is nailing some of the
sheathing on the wall.  Once it's built, level, and sheathed, it goes up!

Every wall that goes up is built on the ground and lifted with 3-4 people and then securing it to the floor and studs as you can see in the pictures. With winds that are projected for Monday we wanted to be extra confident that everything was secure.

Next big thing will be ROOF!   More and more exciting every day!

Stay tuned...

What a cool feeling that you guys are building this yourself! That's pretty awesome!

Thanks Keith! It's been pretty awesome, but also a TON of work! It will all be so rewarding in the end though. :)
