We have just finished painting the room and decided on a oatmeal like color, it keeps the room bright which I like after having it dark brown when we moved in. The projector screen is done. I am still doing the corners and then I will sand the whole room and do one last coat. We can then move onto painting the windows and trim.

The Stove Project...
Over the weekend we finished a large ongoing project which is the woodburning stove. A few weeks ago we started looking into how we wanted it and decided slate was going to work best. Our thoughts were to find a stone that would work best in the room and tie in the look of the stove. We started by bringing the wall out a bit, then covered it with durorock. Other than being a good base it is also fireproof. As you can see, the slate wall went up and we made a raised base for the stove. I also ordered the wood handles for the stove that were missing. Now we can move onto finishing the walls up. I will post some better pictures when the room is done and the stove and stone are not covered in dust.

The last few weeks have been busy, and we are coming close to having the living room done. The room is no longer brown and the walls have had a lot of work done. The room is painted with primer right now and we are looking for a paint color possibly to put up in the next week. The projector screen is up but not finished. It will be framed and the correct size when all is done. That is the blueish patch in the first picture on the wall. All of the electrical is done in the room and Liz is getting cranky about the dust. The end result should be worth it though!

We have taken a bit of time off from working on the house and are not starting to work on the family room. The first picture shows the "popcorn ceiling" which has always bugged me so with enough internet searching I figured out how to take it off. Underneith it was a white painted ceiling in pretty good shape so I was happy about that. I have started mudding the walls and we are looking into options for the wood burning stove right now. I have mounted the projector which serves as our 70" tv in the family room right now and we installed a ceiling fan to help circulate the air better since we are using the wood stove as our primary heat.

Liz and I have been looking at a bed at Crate and Barrel for a while now but with all the things we have been doing to the house our funds have been limited. Here is the picture of the bed:

Over the holidays I had some extra time so I decided to replicate the bed with a few minor changes. The changes are mainly the bed is a bit higher to allow for a Phase II of the bed project to add drawers on each side. It may not happen, but cutting the legs shorter is a lot easier than growing them longer again. Here is the pictures of the bed I built below:
