Flooring prep
Our floors are now prepped and ready for our Gyp-crete floors to be poured. For those who don't know, we put radiant floor heat in our basement floor as well as our 2nd floor living space. For the basement concrete we used regular concrete that comes in the large concrete trucks you see out and about. Our same crew that poured our foundation footers and walls came back to pour the floor. Shout out to Johnny Concrete! The 2nd floor is a different process with a much lighter concrete. It's called Gyp-crete or Gypsum. Gypsum is a mixture of gypsum plaster, Portland cement, and sand. Gypsum is not only used for radiant heating, but also for sound reduction, and floor leveling. This process is pretty cool, looks so smooth. They mixed everything in the driveway, and pumped the gypcrete from a large hose into the house. I think it's like that sugary icing that goes on cookies. Ha!
