Lumber Delivery

Whoa that was a close one...

Thursday was another crazy day...the stone slinger finished up early in the morning and the inspector showed up to give us another good to go, thumbs up! 

Our lumber delivery was supposed to arrive Wednesday, but was delayed a day due to our driver being in the ER for two days, so we had a driver from another area come to help out. He showed up around 8pm, but did not disappoint.  This guy had serious driving skills! He did an amazing job maneuvering between our two trees.  So impressive!

Yet another impressive part of this delivery, not only did he park a semi in the dark, 

but the delivery was speedy and his truck was the fork lift!  I've never seen one of 

these before. Pretty cool to watch all of this happening.

Foundation complete

Foundation is complete... 

The forms came off the foundation walls Monday, and the supplies to seal the foundation were dropped off.  The drainage tile (which to me look like pipes) will go around the bottom of the foundation of the whole house, and connect to the sump pit to complete the "drain tile".

Sump pit.  Once the concrete is poured it will be flush with the floor.  

The black tar is to weather proof the foundation walls.  It's rolled on like paint onto a wall.  Cool!  

  

 The Stone slinger machine was a hit with the kids.   They found it cool to watch stones being chucked all the way to the other side of the house.  We were able to snag a few cool shots...

Once the stone was in place around the whole base of the foundation, the inspector came out and gave us another GREEN light to continue with our project.  

Yay!

Grey Day

Another GREY day...

Really hoping the weather forecast is correct for this week.  It's looking good, mostly sunny week with no showers until next Sunday.   The next few things we have to look forward to are forms coming off, drain tile (piping that is run through the foundation that runs into the sump pit) back fill and lumber delivery.

Foundation Walls Up

WE HAVE CONCRETE!!!

I've never been so excited about concrete before!  Well, besides when Brandon finished our concrete counter tops.  This is so awesome! WOOHOO!

As you will be able to tell from the pictures, we made big strides yesterday.  Foundation wall forms were completed in the morning and the concrete trucks rolled in about 2:15pm and were here until about 4:45pm.  I'm impressed with our crew and how quickly they worked!  Not to mention that they had to move a ton of concrete by hand using shovels to get the concrete into farthest walls.  Typically they would use a conveyor belt to get the concrete from where the truck sits to the farthest wall they are pouring.  These guys must have been tired by the end of day.

They have set supports that are in the wall to hold the rebar rods together and support the walls to stay up.

Everyone seemed to enjoy watching the trucks.  They were mezmorizing watching the red and white stripe spin around and around.

DROP OFF DAY

Well, we haven't had much action lately and unfortunately that's what happens sometimes with construction.  Multiple projects going on at once, and sometimes unexpected things happen which cause delays which then cause the ripple effect.  So with the current rainy weather and some unexpected turns in another project our excavation guys had to deal with we haven't had much to report.  

Yesterday and today we have had some activity with the drop off of some forms which will be used for our walls.  Fingers crossed they will go up quickly and we will have some concrete action happening soon!
